HYDERABAD: After the central government’s decision to reduce the price of LPG cylinder by Rs 200, the price of an LPG cylinder in Hyderabad may be Rs 955.

According to an official release, the reduction of Rs 200 is in addition to the existing targeted subsidy on PMYU domestic cylinders which will continue. The price of PG cylinder will be reduced by Rs.200.

According to the announcement, the price of a domestic gas cylinder in Hyderabad will come down from Rs 1,155 to Rs 955. The price of a cylinder in Delhi will come down to Rs 903 from the current Rs 1,103 per cylinder.

Hence, PMYU will cost Rs 703 per cylinder for domestic consumers after this reduction. It may be noted that there are more than 31 crore domestic LPG consumers in the country out of which 9.6 crore are Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMYU) beneficiary families and this reduction will help all the LPG consumers in the country.

However, LPG dealers in the city said there is no clarity on the prices yet. Although announced, there is some confusion as to whether Rs 200 will be deducted directly from the retailer’s price or added to the subsidy portion. If Rs 200 is directly deducted from the retailer price, an LPG cylinder in Hyderabad will cost Rs 955.

According to the official release issued by the central government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, there is a gift from me to the crores of sisters of the country. Our government will always do everything possible to improve the standard of living of the people and benefit the poor and middle class.
