A total of 287 people have died in rain, since the onset of monsoon on June 24 till September 22.

According to a statement from the state government on Saturday, superstar Aamir Khan has donated Rs2.5 million to the Aapada Rahat Kosh, which will help families in Himachal Pradesh who have been affected by the recent rains.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his gratitude to the Hindi film actor and noted that the contribution will “undoubtedly support the relief and rehabilitation efforts aimed at helping the affected families to recover from the aftermath of the disaster.” The fund will be well used, according to the chief minister, and they’ll make sure it gets to the people who need it most.

Sukhu had previously given the Aapada Rahat Kosh all of his funds, totaling Rs5.1 million, in order to aid the state’s residents who were devastated by the calamity. Along with helping the state with approximately Rs650 million, the governments of Haryana, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh also contributed to the relief and rehabilitation efforts.

In addition to temple trusts, NGOs and private citizens have offered their assistance. Due to the intense rains in July and August, the infrastructure of the roadways, water supply systems, buildings, and other private and public property have all sustained significant damage.

Since the beginning of the monsoon season on June 24 until September 22 there have been 287 fatal rain-related occurrences. The state has allegedly suffered damages in the amount of Rs. 120 billion, according to the chief minister.

By voice voting, the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday adopted a resolution requesting that the recent disaster in the state be declared a national disaster and that a special relief package of Rs 120 billion be made available for the state.
