5 Amazing Face Masks with Rice Water

Rice water is a well-known DIY skincare remedy that Asian women have used for ages to keep their skin looking healthy, youthful, and shining. Rice water is commonly used as a face toner, but it can also be substituted for plain water in homemade face masks. Here are 5 incredible rice water face masks that you must try at home.

Before we get into the recipes, let’s first figure out how to prepare rice water. The simplest method is to soak 3 tbsp raw rice (ideally organic, but any type will do) in a quarter glass of water for around 2 hours, then sieve. You can also make rice water by boiling or fermenting the rice; see our post for details.

Anti-Acne Face Mask with Chickpea Flour and Turmeric

Turmeric has a powerful anti-inflammatory impact and aids in the prevention of acne and other skin concerns, while chickpea flour and rice water work together to keep your skin soft and supple, reduce oily shine, and provide a beautiful complexion.

Combine 2 tsp rice water, 1 tsp chickpea flour, and 14 tsp turmeric in a small bowl. Stir until smooth, then apply to your face for 20 minutes. Remove the mask with cool water, massage your skin dry gently, and apply moisturizer.

Skin Brightening Face Mask with Rice Flour

This mask contains rice water as well as rice flour. Rice flour exfoliates the skin softly, while rice water protects it from irritation. Lemon juice is the mask’s third active ingredient; it evens out skin tone, decreases pigmentation, and makes the skin lighter and brighter.

2 tbsp rice flour, 1 tbsp rice water, and 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice, whisked together until smooth. If your skin is sensitive, use less lemon juice and more rice water. Apply to your face, paying special attention to the areas around your eyes and lips. Allow the mask to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cool water.

Exfoliating Clay Face Mask

Try this face mask, which has only two ingredients: cosmetic clay and rice water, to remove dead skin cells and excess oil, smooth your skin, and improve your appearance. You can use any clay you have on hand, including kaolin, multani mitti (fuller’s earth), bentonite, illite, rhasshoul, and French green clay.

Combine 2-3 tbsp rice water and enough clay to make a smooth, but not too thick, paste (add the clay little by little until you reach the desired consistency). Apply the mixture to your face and leave it to dry for around 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water and apply your preferred moisturizer.

Nourishing Avocado Face Mask

Avocado is a great nutritious ingredient for homemade face masks. It contains vital fatty acids, which nourish the skin and make it soft and supple. Rice water boosts the effect of avocado oil and smoothes up the texture of the mask. You can use a ripe banana for the avocado.

Using a fork, mash the flesh of a ripe avocado. Add 2 teaspoon rice water and continue mashing until the mixture is smooth (or use a blender). Apply the mask to your face, keep it on for 15 minutes, and then rinse with cool water.

Honey & Oatmeal Face Mask

Honey is prized for its nutritional, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, calming, and regenerative effects. It will make your skin soft, silky, and luminous when combined with rice water. Finely ground oatmeal exfoliates the skin softly and without harming it.

1 teaspoon powdered oatmeal, 1 teaspoon honey, and enough rice water to make a smooth paste. After 15 minutes, rinse the liquid off clean skin. Don’t forget to apply moisturizer afterward.
