5 Amazing Benefits of Rice Water for Your Skin

For ages, Asian women have utilized rice water in their beauty routines to achieve a healthy and beautiful complexion. It is a wonderful DIY product for your skincare routine because it is simple to produce and high in nutrients. What are the primary skin benefits of rice water?

1.  Soothes Irritated Skin

Rice water has been shown to relieve dry, itchy, and burnt skin. It aids in the reduction of moisture loss as well as the prevention of itching and flaking produced by harsh skincare products containing alcohol or sulfates. Some people believe that drinking rice water can assist with eczema, acne, and other skin disorders. If you have a skin concern, however, you should visit a dermatologist before using any natural cures.

2.  Has Skin Lightening Properties

Although rice water will not remove hyperpigmentation or acne scars, it will reduce redness and brighten the skin to some extent. Use rice water to achieve a brighter complexion and more even skin tone.

3.  Rich in Antioxidants

Rice contains antioxidants, which prevent the action of free radicals and thereby slow the aging process of the skin. It also inhibits the activity of elastase, an enzyme that degrades elastin and causes the skin to lose firmness. Washing your face with rice water twice a day will help delay the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots.

4.  Has a Mattifying Effect

Rice water has a mattifying impact on oily and mixed skin since it contains starch. It helps to balance the skin, hides pores, and avoids greasy sheen caused by excess skin oil.

5.  Protects the Skin Barrier

One of the best things about rice water is that it does not strip your skin of protective oils; rather, it aids in the restoration and improvement of your skin’s natural barrier, which defends it from many hazardous environmental influences.

How to Make and Use Rice Water

Rice water can be prepared in three ways: boiling, soaking, and fermenting. They all need properly rinsing and draining the rice before starting. You can use any kind of rice you have on hand.

Boiling: Bring 1 part rice to 4 parts water to a boil. Remove from the heat, set aside for a few minutes, then filter the water into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Soaking: combine 1 part rice to 4 parts water and soak for at least 30 minutes. To release nutrients, press the rice with a spoon. Refrigerate the water after straining it into an airtight container.

Fermentation: 1 part rice to 4 parts water, soak for at least 30 minutes. Rather than refrigerating, leave at room temperature for a few days. Refrigerate the water if it begins to smell sour.

You must dilute boiling or fermented rice water with ordinary water before using it. Soaked rice water is less concentrated and hence does not require diluting. Rice water can be used to cleanse your face or as a toner for your face and neck. If you enjoy making your own face masks, you can swap rice water for ordinary water, green tea, or other liquid ingredients.
